Parents and kids alike will have fun at stations set up with games like... Candy Elevator, Movin' on Up, Shake Rattle and Make 'Em Roll, and many more taken from the new NBC show... Minute to Win It. Watch the show Sunday night, and catch a glimpse of the fun YOUR FAMILY could have by attending this event. (Obviously, NBC is in no way sponsoring this event, we just really like their games!)
Why: Well, this started when ConAgra Foods asked me to host a community event to raise awareness of child hunger. It has evolved into a great event to support several great causes.
Who: Kids, adults, grandparents, your friends and neighbors... Everyone is welcome! I can promise you this will be a really fun event to attend! The more people that come, the bigger the difference we can make, and the more fun we can have making it!!!!
Where: Arrowhead Park in Chandler.

What to bring: Here's where we all make a difference!
Non-perishable food or other items to be donated to United Food Bank. (a post is coming soon with suggested items)
Check your house for basic household items and unwanted clothes, to be donated to African refugee families living in the Phoenix area. (These families are starting over with a mattress, and an otherwise empty apartment. Our unwanted items mean so much to them!)
"Pennies for the Poor", "Nickels for the Needy", "Dimes for the Deserving", or whatever you want to call it... bring your spare coins/money. Want to play a game? You'll need to drop in a coin to join the fun!!
(Money will be donated to two causes: Feeding America, who has a soup kitchen in Mesa, and a single mom refugee who needs to pay the US government back for her tickets to the US. This sweet woman and her daughter are currently living with a friend of ours, and has yet to find a job. UPDATE!!!!! I have learned from my friend that this woman is no longer in need of financial help to pay back the ticket. SOOO... we are working on a second option for the party... The Kolfe Orphanage in Ethiopia. More details coming soon. These precious boys (one of which is our "son") are in great need of shoes and money for visitor's to buy them fruit.) If you would like a tax deductible receipt for money given to Feeding America, please contact me, otherwise, it will be donated in a lump sum without the benefit of any of us getting a receipt. (We won't be putting our name on the donation.)

So there you have it, a party with a purpose... a chance to get involved and bless someone else with little effort and cost, but a whole lot of fun! We will be updating this blog often with event details and items we are looking to borrow (tables, etc...) or collect (empty Kleenex boxes, disposable drinking cups, etc...) in order to make this day a success, so... check it out, and make plans to join us for an afternoon of making a difference!
