Wow . . . you're WAY more official than I ever thought about being! I'll have to get back with you on our RSVP. It's going to be the day of Luke's birthday party. We just aren't positive of the time yet, but maybe we can at least come by for some of it. I'll let you know. I hope it's a big success!
What an awesome idea!! I love it!! I would love to ask our homeschool co-op and our two cub scout dens if they would like to get involved. Please let me know if we can do something to help out. :0) Love, Lisa Keller
Yes! The more the merrier! So excited to see God at work through everyone!!! Trying to nail down that location today! Would love prayers for the right spot!
Kolfe Orphanage is one of the most run-down orphanages in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It is situated on a previous dumping ground. The orphanage is government run, which means, times are tough at Kolfe, and the needs are great.
The orphanage is filled with 250 or so boys to men ranging from 5 years to their mid 20s. They want to live with hope for a future, they want the love and acceptance of a family, they NEED Jesus Christ.
Three times in the past year, I have had the priviledge of traveling to Ethiopia to visit Kolfe Orphanage with these precious boys. In a sense, I got the immense joy of being the tangible hands and feet of Christ to boys/young men who often feel that God has forgotten them... Actually, that is the nickname they have for themselves... The Forgotten Boys.
God has opened our eyes in the past year to a world we never wanted to acknowledge.... the world of orphans. There are millions upon millions of orphans all over the world who simply want a family to call their own.
So our prayer is this... that you would stop by our blog often, read the stories of the Kolfe Boys, follow along on our journey... and then make a journey of your own. Pray about what God would have you do to help the orphans that God has NOT forgotten... and get involved.
Don't expect that someone else will do what God has called you to do. (James 1:27 ~ Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress...)
Sponsor an orphan somewhere in the world, adopt one of these precious young men, give financially to help me get back out to Kolfe, send something for the orphans with me on my next trip... (We are currently collecting toiletries, soccer shirts, punch balls, beach balls, and cans of baby formula, just to name a few... for my next trip in 2012)
...but please, don't get too comfortable in this life... there are so many who need all of our help to see hope, and have a future!

We'll be there when things start winding down, the last hour. I wish we had a totally free calendar to join you for the whole thing. I'm inspired.

What a great plan. God will give you the perfect location! Lana
Tamara, I will be there with all four of my kids—so that's five total for us. Six if Shawn is able to join us. :-)
The Slaytons will be there :)
