There has been a project swirling around
in my head for months.
I have wanted to send our 3 children pillowcases,
but I couldn't bring myself to do it...
Why?
Because of the hundreds of other kids at Kolfe
who would see those pillowcases,
and know they didn't have one.
I love ALL the kids at Kolfe,
so I never sent those pillowcases...
BUT... now is the time!
These are their pillows..
MOST of the kids don't have pillowcases.
This means their pillows are never clean.
Dirt, oil and germs cradle the heads
of God's children at Kolfe.
A few kids are lucky to have pillowcases.
(I guess...)
How would you feel about your child
laying their precious head on this?
The blankets aren't much better.
Old and filthy dirty...
These sweet, sweet children
drift off to sleep each night dreaming
of families to love them,
parents to hold them...
on this nasty, dirty bedding.
I believe there are enough of us
who care about Kolfe,
that we can change some of this.
Here's the goal:
~ 300 pillowcases to fill our suitcases
(Sewn with love out of dark, busy/fun fabrics to
hide the dirt! Like the ones below...)
~ $1,500 to buy 300 new pillows
when we get to Ethiopia.
We are praying that God
will provide an additional
~$1,900 to buy new blankets
in Ethiopia for each of the boys.
(and maybe sheets for those without)
Saving the blankets/sheets for next time...
schooling costs became of greater concern!
How cool would it be to send us with
~ 300 little cards/drawings
of encouragement
to give the boys WITH their
new pillows/pillowcases!
These are two of Kyle's pillowcases.
THIS is what I want for those precious boys.
The prints are fun, and they are dark and busy...
to hide the dirt and oils.
(Remember... they won't get washed often.)
Having pillowcases like these
will keep them looking nice
for a long time.
If you want to join us in sewing,
you can find directions on how
to make a pillowcase like this
here.
Now about all that money we will need...
Gladney has agreed to let us collect
money for this project through them,
and then they will get us the money when
we get to Ethiopia to go shopping.
Praise God, they did the shopping for us!!

Donating to the Kolfe Pillow Project
through Gladney is tax deductible!
(Let's try to keep this for larger amounts...
so we don't bug Gladney with the smaller donations...
those can come directly to us.)
If you want the tax deduction on a larger amount...
Let's say $40 and above?
You can send me a check made out to Gladney.
(My email link is on the top right of this blog.)
I will send it to them.

Dig deep, and let's show
these children
that someone cares about them,
each and every time their head
hits that pillow.
