I learned pretty quickly that I had
nothing to worry about at Kolfe.
The boys were perfect gentlemen
while I was with them.
Everywhere you go at Kolfe, there are stairs,
uneven ground, and loose rocks.
I had worn a skirt and boots every day,
(which made walking this terrain more of a challenge)
first, because I wanted to be a modest as
possible in this land of testosterone,
and second, because it kept them from
forcing me to play football (soccer).
- - - -
They had been asking me to play...
I don't play soccer,
so I warned them that I would be
wearing skirts to protect myself.
It worked....
- - - -
I never went down a flight of stairs or
across the campus without one or two
of the boys escorting me... so sweet.
Not sure how they learned this behavior
in their current environment,
but they impressed me none-the-less.
I also learned the second day,
never to worry if I looked at both my hands
and my sons hands and didn't see my camera...
It was just "visiting the orphanage" with some
random boy, and was completely safe.
with 50-100 photos to sort through.
One of the things I had neglected to plan
for was extra memory sticks,
so 550 photos with a few short videos
was all my camera could hold.
so while I was doing this...
My camera was doing this...
and this,
and this...
and this!
