Kolfe Games

The boys love games...
Football (soccer) is their favorite.
A friend who traveled in July noted that
some of the new younger boys were actually
playing soccer without shoes...

Mezgebu

Why?  Well, they didn't have shoes,
and that's not about to stop a Kolfe boy
from their favorite pastime!
She brought them shoes in
 September while I was there.
They are good about taking turns:
...being goal keeper,
....rotating in players
They use the method of...
pick a number between 1 and 100
to see who gets to play next.
...and being the ref.
It was funny to watch them
disagree with the referee's call once,
and finally determine that the answer to
the problem was just to get a new ref.

The photo above represents a crazy dream of mine.
This is one of my FAVORITE games...
WIG OUT.  (You can also use it to play PIT)
I love this game, and I teach it
to my VBS kids every year.
I have become known as the game lady,
because if you get assigned to my craft table,
there are games to play if you finish early.
That huge smile belongs to Emnatu...
turns out he loves the game as much as I do!
It had been my dream for months to teach the
Kolfe boys how to play Wig Out and Pit.
I had to search long and hard,
 before finding three decks of
Wig Out cards to take to Kolfe.
I wasn't sure what they would think of it...
but not to worry... they love games!
I started out with one table full of boys,
and then more came,
so we started a second table...
Soon we had three very full tables going,
and laughter everywhere.
Biniyam is now the proud
"keeper of the cards".
You want to play Pit?
You gotta' go to Biniyam...
